After the Flood: Questions Remain, Accountability Absent

✍︎ Julia Marie Estrella

Several months have passed since the flooding that affected many communities, yet no official has been held accountable for the failure of flood control systems.

During the height of the disaster, residents experienced severe damage to homes, loss of property, and disruption of daily life. Floodwaters have since subsided, and affected areas have begun to recover. However, questions about the effectiveness of flood control projects remain unanswered.

Government agencies have not released clear reports explaining what went wrong. There has also been no confirmed investigation that has led to charges or legal action against any responsible individuals.

Flood control projects are funded by public money and are expected to protect communities, especially during heavy rains. When these systems fail, it raises concerns about project planning, implementation, and maintenance.

Residents continue to call for transparency and accountability. Many believe that without proper investigation, similar incidents may happen again in the future.

As of now, there is still no official held responsible, and no one has been put in jail in connection with the issue.
